Doctor Name: Leighann C. Krasney, D.O., M.P.H. (32006)
Treatment Performed: Total Reverse Shoulder Replacement
Story Title: One Wrong Step
Story Description:
I fell and broke my shoulder in October 2025. I wish I could turn back the clock for a quick do-over. 🙂 But I couldn't. The break was severe enough that it couldn't simply be repositioned, cast, and healed. Due to the damage inflicted on the bone (it broke into 4 pieces) and soft tissue damage, the reverse replacement was deemed the most appropriate treatment for my case. I was confined to a sling for 6 weeks (I know it served a valid purpose, but I grew to hate it by the time I was deemed "ready to move on" without it). The sling was followed by nearly 4 months of 2x/weekly physical therapy sessions with Gabby and Brenna, and periodic check-ins with Dr. Krasney and her physician assistant, Abby. Everyone was encouraging and supportive. The office staff was friendly and helpful. I simultaneously hated and loved going there. I was happy to see the familiar and friendly people but knew each visit meant hard work, effort, and commitment if we were to meet our collective goals.
I am now 6 months post physical therapy, and I know my arm will never be 100% the same, and that's okay. I have exceeded our expectations for rebuilding strength in my arm and improving the range of motion. If I hadn't moved forward with what seemed a daunting course of action, I wouldn't be able to "live my life" volunteering and spending time with family and friends. Dr. Krasney and her team gave me back use of my dominant arm and helped me avoid a lifetime of pain and limitations. They are all passionate about the role they play in the process. Once you take the first step in the process of healing, your view in the rearview mirror expands to show how far you've come and what lies ahead.
