  • “I have taken the time to write this memo even though I do not like computers. The reason being is I want Dr. Powers to know how much of a positive impact he has had on me. I came to him in pain and with a deep sadness in my heart because during this time I had to send my walking buddy to heaven after 13.5 years I could not take my daily walks after injuring my knee and I didn't much care to since losing my best friend, Brooklyn. He always had a smile for me with a positive attitude. He always looked me right in the eyes and talked to me not at me. Its unfortunate but many doctors these days don't even take the time to look up at you never mind listen to what ails you. When I went to have my stitches removed he didn't just check my knee he immediately reminded me how to deal with my injury psychologically and how important it is to use mind over matter when recovering. He never left me in pain but he also knew when it was time for me to rely on self determination and not to rely on just drugs for pain relief. Dr. Powers had no way of knowing this but a few years back I had to have heart surgery and I was left in such pain. Moving forward I feared being left in pain more than the surgery itself. He needs to know what a positive powerful impact he has had on me. Not just physically but psychologically ! ”

  • “I have been treated at Mountain Valley Orthopedics several times, going all the way back to 2003, when I saw Dr. Powers in the Tobyhanna office for a sprained ankle. The treatment I received was excellent, and I recovered well within the time frame he had expected. I found him a kind and gentle care provider who knew the appropriate treatment for my problem. In 2012 I was treated for a broken heel bone by Dr. Paglia. I received the same careful treatment I had received with Dr. Powers. The heel was back in service in little time. More recently, I have had a few problems that required small surgeries by Dr. Powers. First was trigger thumb release surgery to correct what had become an extremely painful issue in my daily living. Next, he operated on my right wrist to fix the carpal tunnel pain that was interfering with doing my job. Most recently, Dr. Powers fixed the carpal tunnel pain in my left wrist. In all three cases, the surgeries completely alleviated the pain I was experiencing, and the incisions healed well, without incident. I felt and still feel very confident in the expertise and care I received from Dr. Powers. He told me the key is to do the surgery very carefully, taking time to do it right. He also explains exactly how the surgery will be done and asks if I have any questions. I've never had many questions, because of his very clear and thorough explanation of the procedure. I recommend Dr. Powers without reservation to heal your pain issues, whether for something big, like a hip replacement, to something as small as trigger thumb or a sprain. He is a caring doctor who truly listens and knows what treatment is best for your problem.”

  • “Just want to say my experience with Mountain Valley Orthopedics was a good one. Everyone was truly very nice. Dr. Powers was very nice and answered any and all questions. Explained every step he was taking, granted it was only a broken wrist, but what ever he planned to do, he explained. Want to thank the doctor and staff for the great visits.”

  • “I have been seeing Dr. Powers since Mountain Valley Orthopedics opened. I have a rare brittle bone disorder called Osteogenesis Imperfecta, to which I have broken many bones in my life. Well, when I do break a bone, I know Dr. Powers will be there for me with his caring way about him. He is very professional and knowledgeable about all the bones in your body. I know that my bone will heal correctly when he treats me. His staff are all great too! This is the place to go when you have a broken bone!”

  • “I have been very fortunate to have been treated by Dr. Powers. He is very thorough and very informative when I have been in to see him. He always greets me with a handshake and a smile. Never tries to convince me that the pain I am experiencing is not what I am feeling. Dr. Powers did a rotator cup surgery on my right shoulder. He was very upfront and open about the time it would take to recover. The timing he provided was right on the money. Follow up visits were also thorough, checking the mobility and strength of my shoulder and grip. Recently I started to have some pain again in the shoulder. I went to see Dr. Powers. Again, he did a thorough check on my shoulder and my mobility and strength. As a precautionary measure he sent me for an MRI. Turns out there was nothing wrong with the rotator cup or the surgery. Seems I have extensive nerve damage in my neck as a result of arthritis. Had he been a less than an honorable physician he could have strung me along with more treatments, therapy, etc. He didn't. Now I am being treated by a physician who can help with my nerve damage. Should I ever (which I hope I don't) have orthopedic problems in the future I wouldn't hesitate one second going back to Dr. Powers. In addition to Dr. Powers, the PA's and staff are outstanding. Everyone has been very professional, courteous and greet you with a smile. One final note, I have never waited more than 15 minutes in the lobby for my appointment. There are a lot of physician offices that could learn from Mountain Valley how to properly schedule their appointments.”
